2011 APRIL & MAY FISHING REPORT – UCLUELET / TOFINO AREAS
Fishing has been excellent for the month of April and May. Lots of Chinook salmon have been the areas of Barkley Sound and South Bank have been giving our guests limits of fish. The salmon have been averaging in the 10 to 18 pound range. The regular spots such as Great Bear and Alley Rock, Sail Rock , inside and outside South Bank, and Light House Bank have all been producing at some point or another. When you do find the fish they are usually in good numbers. Fishing close to bottom with spoons and needle fish hootchies have been working well. Needlefish and the odd herrings have been making up the majority of the feed for these Chinook.
Halibut have been showing up in decent numbers lately. Fishing the local rockpiles and reefs have produced some nice halis and lingcod throughout April and early May. Halibut fishing should get even better as the month of May progresses. The Chinook fishing should also just get better and better as record numbers of American fish will be pushing through the area on there way down to the Puget Sound and Columbia river systems.
We have some early season specials so don't hesitate to drop me a line if you need any info or would like to book a trip.
Tight lines,
